Lie Down, Lie Down

Lie down, lie down, my friend.
Have no fear; the storm shall pass.
Close your eyes, pay no mind to the wind.
Have no fear; the storm shall pass.
Relax, my friend, in my comforting presence.
Dream of things far away from here;
Escape the horrors of reality that encompass us all.
Think of this darkness, my friend,
Let me be the light to guide you through the storm.

Lie down, lie down, my friend.
Have no fear; this storm shall pass.
Close your eyes, block out the biting rain.
Have no fear; this storm shall pass.
Relax, my friend, in my warming fire.
Remember not the trials you’ve faced.
Forget the horrors of past times now mere memory.
Think of this biting cold, my friend,
Let me be the fire to warm your icy heart.

Come and give me your heart and soul.
Come to me; I will make you whole.
When you are lost along life’s road,
Return to me; I’ll lead you home.
Come to me and give your strife
And I’ll give you my life.

Do not be afraid, my friend.
Have no fear; the storm has passed.
Remember that I will be by your side.
Have no fear; the storm has passed.
Take comfort, my friend, in the consistent knowledge;
The very thought that I will remain true.
Concentrate on the bright future and what lies in store.
Think of your mental trials, my friend,
Let me be the one to free your mind and body.

Come and give me your heart and soul.
Come to me; I will make you whole.
When you are lost along life’s road,
Return to me; I’ll lead you home.
Come to me and give your strife
And I’ll give you my life.

Lie down, lie down, my friend.
You need not fear; I am right here.
Our lives go on, the journey continues.
You need not fear, I’m constantly here.
Relax, my friend, in my promise to you.
The oath I took to always stay near.
Remember that I have been close since this all began.
Think of your life here with me.
And never forget what I have done for you.

Come and give me your heart and soul.
Come to me; I will make you whole.
When you are lost along life’s road,
Return to me; I’ll lead you home.
Come to me and give your strife
And I’ll give you my life.

Come and give me your heart and soul.
Come to me; I will make you whole.
When you are lost along life’s road,
Return to me; I’ll lead you home.
Come to me and give your strife
And I’ll give you my life.

Lie down, lie down, my friend.
Have no fear; I’ll be right here.
Take heart in me; right here, I’ll be.
Lie down, lie down, my friend, lie down

It is actually supposed to be a song. (Forgive me for placing it in the wrong section; I'm new here). Thus, the six lines repeated through the poem is the chrous. Everything else would be a verse.

I agree with Knightly on the sexual front.
I didn't even consider it, actually, until you pointed it out.
The poem was great, and I loved the reasurance that resonated through it.
And the repetition was a bit droning, but I like how it made it all connect.
I guess I'm trying to say that there just doesn't need to be as much repeating as there was.
Very well written and good job.

Most important line in the 1st stanza: "Let me be the light to guide you through the storm."

This is saying: "Don't be afraid of challenges that come your way. I'll lead you through to the end."

I don't think it sounded sexual. The tone sounded rather dark to me honestly. Which made the first part sound suicidal. The first part sounded like the voice of temptation telling him to just end everything.

Then it got positive in the middle and latter part and I realized I totally misinterpreted the first part of the poem.

Anyway, this was a great poem. It sounded rather desperate but at the same time there's always a flicker of hope in the background. Hope is lovely, don't you think? And this poem is lovely as well.

Er... My only problem is the repetition. It was alright at first but there was too much and it became rather tedious.

aside from that: brilliant.:)

oh and by the way, welcome here. PM me if ya need anything.

Keep writing.

I know the general tone sounds sexual, but please do not interpret it that way. It is written in the style of one lover/friend saying to the other: "Don't worry about what will happen. I'll always be here to support you and back you up. And when life gets you down, you can count on me to lift you back up."

Enjoy!
